Meros (μέρος)
The Greek word meros (μέρος) appears throughout the New Testament to mean a part, share, or portion of something larger. In Luke 10:42 (ESV), Jesus uses meros when he says that Mary has chosen “the good portion”—a share that is not taken away. In this context, meros does not describe ownership or achievement, but attentive participation: a deliberate choice to receive and remain with what truly matters.
Biblically, meros often carries the sense of a portion entrusted, assigned, or received in relationship, rather than seized or controlled. It reflects an ethic of discernment—choosing rightly among many claims on one’s attention—and of faithfulness to what endures. The word suggests care for one’s share within a greater whole, and responsibility exercised through presence, attentiveness, and service.
As used by the firm, Meros reflects a commitment to attentive counsel and stewardship: giving careful attention to the responsibilities entrusted to clients—whether land, family legacy, or community work—and serving those responsibilities with humility, clarity, and long-term care. Learn more
